We are interested in hearing from suitably experienced registered nurses with relevant post-registration qualifications, experience and proven skills to join the team in the Queen Elizabeth National Spinal Injuries as Clinical Nurse Specialist Spinal Injuries Liaison Service Band 7. This post holder has continuing responsibility and accountability for the management and delivery of specialist nursing care to patients with Spinal cord injuries; the assessment of care needs, the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of care and the setting of standards for discharged spinal patients throughout Scotland. Focusing on assessment and interventions to prevent and manage secondary complications to ensure high standard patient centred care lifelong care. The post holder coordinates and delivers the spinal injury outreach clinic service supporting the needs of patients with spinal cord injury in Scotland. The post holder will provide clinical support and advice to patients, carer’s, family and all members of nursing, medical and other members of the multidisciplinary team. They will have the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their actions, acting as a skilled advisor or resource for others. This includes specialist assessment, informed decision making, and treatment using a personalised approach to care for patients’ multidimensional presentations. This may require supporting specialist care over a prolonged period of time.
Component of this role would be to undertake unit page holder responsibilities and support spinal outpatient department if required.
Candidates essential criteria includes specialist knowledge relating to spinal cord injury, the candidate should have portfolio of evidence demonstrating specialist competencies, this may include workplace based assessments, practice related feedback and reflective accounts.
Clinical assessment and non-medical prescribing would be essential for this post, annex 21 would be offered to complete a 60-credit package of training.
