The Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Catering Assistant/Commis Chef to join their catering team, working 15 hours per week with shifts scheduled between 06:00 and 19:00, including weekends. The role involves basic kitchen duties, food preparation, and service to patients within the Moorside unit, while also requiring flexibility to support other units as needed. Candidates should be good communicators and team players, capable of maintaining high food hygiene standards and providing a customer-focused service. We are looking to add to our great catering team to work across various sites within the trust. The role will be 15 hours per week working a range of shifts from 06:00 to 19:00 5 days over 7 (including weekends)
The successful candidate will be a great team player working in our kitchens and service points, who is capable of helping the teams to continue in delivering a fantastic food service to our service users within the units . They will be a great communicator, and have the ability to think on their feet.
Candidates will be expected to have or to be able to gain at least a level 2 food hygiene level of knowledge
The role will include basic kitchen duties as well as assisting in food service to our service users.
The role will be based at Moorside unit. However you will be required to support for other units.
To provide a customer focused service.
Cleaning of crockery, pots and pans. using an industrial dishwashing machine and manually washing.
Preparation of hot and cold food items, service of patient and other meals or functions.
To adhere to safe working practices in all aspects of hygiene management.
To adhere to safe working practices in all aspects of risk management and security.
Carry out general and specialised cleaning tasks in accordance with Trust procedures.
To undertake mandatory training in COSHH, HACCP and comply with all Trust policies relevant to the post particularly with regard to the food hygiene policy’

Please be aware this role may require periods of standing , and may involve the moving and lifting of goods and food stuffs - so the successful applicant will have to be capable of such duties
