Job Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, friendly, hardworking and experienced healthcare support worker to join the multi-disciplinary team within the Sexual Health Department.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well- motivated individual who has excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.

This is a busy post set in Sexual Health, which includes the Pregnancy Advisory Service (abortion care). Areas of work include the Sexual Health Clinic in Singleton Hospital, Neath Port Talbot Hospital, and satellite venues throughout Swansea Bay and Neath Port Talbot.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Healthcare Assistant (Level 3) has a greater degree of autonomy than the Healthcare Assistant and undertakes a broader range of health and care in accordance with policy and procedures. The post holder will work on their own initiative, undertaking delegated tasks with appropriate supervision in place from a registered practitioner/assistant practitioner.The post holder contributes to assessment and assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of individualised care plans.

The post holder should have experience within the healthcare environment, knowledge of the fundamentals of care, understanding of basic physiology and the principles of safeguarding. Skills in venepuncture would be desirable but not essential.

It is essential that the post holder will be able to work with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times, whilst being caring and compassionate.

The post holder will be expected to travel between clinics between Neath Port Talbot and Swansea.

The post-holder will work flexibly with other members of the team across Swansea Bay University Health-board in the overall provision of care within the Sexual Health Service. The post holder will be directly responsible to the Lead Nurse and will work in close liaison with the clinicians within their team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
