The Consultant in Public Health role at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust involves providing leadership aimed at improving health outcomes and addressing health inequalities in collaboration with various health and community organisations. The successful candidate will offer expert advice and develop initiatives for public health protection and healthcare strategies, reporting directly to the Director of Public Health while influencing policies across the Healthier Wigan Partnership.
Candidates must be registered on the Specialist Register of the General Medical/Dental Council in Public Health or the UK Public Health (Specialist) Register, demonstrating expertise across all public health domains. You will provide public health leadership for improving health outcomes and reducing health inequalities through delivery of action, influence and advice to WWL, the Council, NHS Greater Manchester Wigan Locality and the wider Healthier Wigan Partnership.
Professionally accountable to the Director of Public health you will provide expert public health advice to WWL and other key partners, reporting to the Director of Strategy and Transformation, taking a lead on the boroughwide approach to health protection and healthcare public health.
In this role your leadership will inspire development of progressive system wide solutions and influence action that supports continuous improvement in health and wellbeing across the population, challenging existing practice and improving quality, providing WWL, the Council and NHS partners with specialist public health advice.
