Health Care Support Worker - Penhow Ward, Royal Gwent Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 2 HCSW to join our friendly and supportive team at Penhow Ward Royal Gwent Hospital.
We are looking for staff who have energy, enthusiasm, commitment and drive and who are patient-centred.
You will have the opportunity to develop your skills under the supervision of our qualified nurses, caring for patients during their rehabilitation and in achieving their discharge with the best possible outcomes.
The post holder will work under the supervision/guidance of a registered nurse/clinical lead and will work collaboratively with them and the wider multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
As a HCSW you will be expected to demonstrate a genuine interest in this field of nursing and possess excellent people skills such as communication. You will be expected to work as an integral part of our team on Penhow Ward and you will be required to carry out a range of assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care to ensure the delivery of high-quality person-centred patient care.
We provide care to our patients 7 days a week, 24 hours a day so you will need to have a flexible approach to take part in a full shift system including nights and weekend working, in some areas on a 12-hour shift system or on a three-shift system.
Main duties of the job
Currently we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the Home Office’s criteria. Anyone requiring a certificate of sponsorship is therefore unable to be shortlisted and interviewed.
Penhow Ward is a friendly welcoming team looking to recruit individuals who have a passion for patient care, and are committed to providing high standards of care for patients, their families and carers within a hospital setting .
The successful candidate will ideally possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal and good computer skills. They will be enthusiastic about change management and supportive towards their colleagues.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
