We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this position are worked over 5 days Monday to Friday.
We are currently seeking to recruit a fulltime Band 3 Health Care Support Workers to join our Outpatient Service.
Outpatients is a dynamic, diverse environment and plays an important role in the delivery of patient care across the South Sector. You will work within the nursing and multidisciplinary team to ensure a high standard of care is delivered to patients within a wide range of specialties including ENT, Dermatology, Gynaecology, Medical, Oncology, Surgical, Renal and Urology.
Duties Include
- You will competently perform the necessary technical, and physical aspects of care and treatment for patients within both consultant and nurse led clinics.
- Assisting with procedures, undertaking observations, clinic management using trakcare, chaperoning, housekeeping, ordering, undertaking venepuncture and working within the ambulance waiting area.
Requirements
- Experience working within a caring environment/role and the ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team is essential.
- You should be motivated and have excellent organisational skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as basic computer skills are essential.
- Experience working within an Outpatient environment is desirable as well as the ability to undertake venepuncture but training will be given.
- You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to supporting the ongoing development of the service and work to deliver safe and effective care.
- Evidence of ongoing learning relevant to health care is desirable.
- There is a requirement to work flexibly to support the service and, if necessary, you will be expected to engage in multi-site working within the South Sector in order to ensure the provision of the service.
Shift patterns will vary over 5 days (Monday to Friday). This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
