This is an exciting opportunity where we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Health Care Support Worker to join our team within the In patient theatre unit at RAH. This unit exists of nine theatres, a reception area and a recovery room. Specialties include general surgery, orthopaedics , gynaecology, ent and cross site working at the QEUH theatre for the Clyde Robotic lists.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Post Holder will:

  • Provide care to patients before, during and after surgical procedures in support of the trained nurse.
  • Be required to perform physical, technical and emotional aspects of patient care in an efficient, effective and responsible manner, in a busy acute environment.

Previous experience of working within a hospital environment is an advantage, however not essential as training and support will be given.

The successful candidate is required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a service that runs over a 7 day week, including weekends and public holidays.

Furthermore, the successful candidate may be expected where necessary to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to achieve the needs of the service

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
