The NHS Scotland is seeking an experienced Governance Officer for a hybrid role based in Edinburgh with the Scottish Ambulance Service. This position will involve providing comprehensive governance support to the Board Secretary by implementing and maintaining board standards and overseeing the quality of Committee governance administration. Key responsibilities include preparing accurate minutes, managing the business of the Board's committees, and coordinating follow-up actions. The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in board-level administrative and governance support, a strong understanding of corporate governance, and excellent communication and writing skills.
Candidates should have a background in the NHS or a similar complex organisation, showcasing proficiency with IT systems such as Admincontrol and Microsoft SharePoint. The role requires the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders and convey complex information clearly and concisely. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Governance Officer to join the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The postholder will support the Board Secretary in the comprehensive board and governance service specifically by leading the implementation and maintenance of board standards and ensuring the quality of Committee governance administration. The role will ensure a professional, quality and accurate secretariat service is provided to and the management of the business of the Board’s standing committees. This includes preparation of accurate, quality and timely minutes to the standard agreed with the Chair, CEO and Non Executive Director Committee Chairs and the full coordination of follow up actions and subsequent sequencing of agenda items.
You will have considerable experience in providing board level administrative and governance support, gained through a combination of experience in a similar role and education or training. This experience should be reflected in your good working knowledge of corporate governance, public sector audit and equality and diversity, particularly as they apply to board governance. You will have significant experience within the NHS or similar complex organisation.
As the role requires you to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders, you will be confident in communicating effectively both in writing and in person and have the ability to interpret and convey complex information in an appropriate way for the audience. Essentially you will have excellent writing skills, with the ability to be clear, accurate, relevant and concise.
With highly developed IT skills, and a proven ability to manage and develop complex relevant information systems and processes, such as Admincontrol and Microsoft Sharepoint, you will be able to present complex information confidently and professionally in a variety of ways (written and verbal) to staff and Board groups.
