The role of Healthcare Support Worker 204679 AA at the Victoria Maternity Unit in Kirkcaldy involves providing essential care to expectant mothers and their families during approximately 3,000 annual births. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the Healthcare Support Worker will engage in various duties across different settings, including the Midwife Led Unit, Consultant Led Unit, and Maternity Ward, with responsibilities ranging from patient-facing clinical tasks to housekeeping.

We are in a position to offer permanent contracts. There are various hours for Health Care Support Workers to work within the maternity care settings.
These care settings primarily include Midwife Led unit, Consultant Led Unit and the Maternity ward but can be rotational within other areas of care required.
You will work as part of the multidisciplinary team, including medical and midwifery staff. This being to provide care to the woman and families of Fife. Duties include some aspects of patient facing clinical work as well as housekeeping and cleaning.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
