Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Trust Grade Doctor at SHO level in Elderly Medicine for a 6-month position at St Mary’s Hospital. The role involves working primarily on Thistle Ward, with responsibilities including daily patient reviews, supervision of junior staff, and participation in multidisciplinary meetings. The doctor will also provide medical cover in the elderly care department and engage in educational activities, teaching medical students and junior staff. The post holder will be attached to Medicine for the Elderly for 6 months, primarily based on Thistle Ward, with on-call duties in acute and general medicine.

The General Responsibilities Of All Three Post-holders Are To
- Daily to review all patients admitted in their ward areas and to supervise the FY1 and FY2’s.
- Provide medical cross-cover to the all patients in the elderly care department where necessary
- To attend multidisciplinary meetings and lead these meetings in the absence of the consultant or registrar
- To take part in the General (Internal) Medical on call rota
- To teach junior medical/paramedical staff and Year 3 and Year 5 medical students of Imperial College School of Medicine.
- SHOs may be asked to work outside their work plan from time to time to ensure the above general duties are covered.
- To participate in the educational activities of the department and the GP STS as outlined in the educational section above.
