Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology & Medical Illustrations Clinical Service Unit at LTHT.
The role will report into the Deputy General Manager, & will lead the Business Managers team. Alongside providing leadership, the Service Manager will lead activity in Interventional Radiology (IR) & Interventional Oncology (IO), together with the Lead Radiographer for IR/IO.
We are looking for someone with a wealth of operational management experience & a passion for service improvement & development. We want somebody who leads by example, & who can find solutions to issues, ensuring we provide the best patient service.
A strong understanding of capacity & demand planning, pathway development, stock control & financial insight will be required. Great communication skills & an ability to manage competing demands is crucial to success. This will help to meet the required performance targets.
IR & IO offer life saving treatments, so furthering our efficiency & delivering new minimally invasive service in these areas will support us treating more patients.
The NHS is in a period of significant challenge & transition, so while healthcare & NHS experience may be beneficial to the role, it is not essential. We would welcome applicants from other sectors with the appropriate transferrable skills, but who bring different experience and offer a different viewpoint.

Main duties of the job
Lead on the delivery of operational service targets within the CSU.
Line manage the CSU Business Managers & have overall accountability for the performance of the patient admin function.
Ensure that robust activity & financial management systems are in place to maintain business continuity during the planning & commissioning of the service plans.
Monitor contract activity & ensure that systems are in place to deliver planned contract activity.
To be involved in budget setting for services.
To create, collate, interpret, analyse data to turn it into useful information to enable CSU to monitoring & decision making.
Take lead responsibility for developing a robust project management framework to support the delivery of service change.
Propose changes to processes, procedures & patient pathways.
Identify areas of improvement within the service & lead on the development of required changes.
Act as a change agent, consulting with all involved parties, gaining agreement & approval for new ways of working.
Ensure training and induction packages are in place for relevant staff groups.
To attend and contribute as a key member at the CSU Team meetings
Investigate complex complaints in line with the Trusts Complaints Procedure and ensure that all complaints are used positively to improve service deficiencies.

The Service Manager will lead the Business Managers team, supporting them and their modalities, as well as directly leading activity within the Interventional Radiology and Interventional Oncology areas. Additionally, through the Business Team they will have overall accountability for the admin team, and their successful delivery of activity.
The role requires focus on operational delivery, service improvement, pathway development, staff leadership and communication across the CSU and beyond. It also requires in depth financial tracking with a focus on efficiency and removing waste from our processes.
This will enable the development, delivery and maintenance of all access targets, cancer capacity, cancelled operations target, activity plan and maximising data capture and coding efficiencies.
Working in partnership with clinical staff, commissioners, managers and service users, the post holder will ensure service improvement to best deliver for our patients, together with responsible financial management.
