The role of Healthcare Assistant - Theatres at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust in Haywards Heath offers an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join a diverse perioperative team focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic environment. Key responsibilities include preparing the theatre environment and equipment for surgical procedures, assisting in patient transfers, providing both physical and emotional support to patients, and collaborating with the surgical team. Our department consists of 8 theatres over 3 main areas. We provide for a range of surgical specialties including:
Orthopaedics & trauma
General Surgery
Urology
Gynaecology
Robotic Surgery (Gen. Surg, Gynae, Urology)
Max Facs
ENT
Breast & Endocrine Surgery
Obstetrics
In addition, successful applicants may be asked occasionally to provide assistance in other ward areas.

An operating department Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is a crucial part of the multidisciplinary team. They assist setting up theatres and preparing the Theatre and patient for surgery, as well as assisting the Theatre practitioners and surgical team during surgical procedures with equipment, instruments and patient care.
