We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to support our therapy team in the stroke services at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The trusts has five sites across London. The current vacancy is based on our acute and hyper acute stroke wards at Charing Cross Hospital, Hammersmith.

The therapists, nurses and doctors work together with the medical and nursing team to assess, treat and support transfer of care from hospital to the community.

The aim of the post is to provide support to the speech and language, occupational and physiotherapy team working within the acute stroke services. The role will include both clinical and administrative duties. You will be working directly with patients in 1:1 sessions as well as group settings to implement their prescribed therapy programmes, both with therapists and independently. Non clinical duties include; keeping notes, inputting data, making referrals and ordering equipment. You will develop your skills through a competency framework and be supported to do this by qualified staff.

You will be supporting people in their early stages of rehabilitation, supporting the team and individuals to make changes in their health and well-being. The work is varied and requires initiative, innovation, self-motivation and to be able to motivate others.

The post will suit someone with excellent communication and organization skills as well as an interest in caring for people and developing a career in the therapies or healthcare. Previous experience in the hospital setting, working with people with neurological problems and being part of a team would be beneficial.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be part of an Integrated Occupational and Physiotherapy service, meeting the needs of a multi-cultural and diverse population.
  • As a Therapy support worker OR Therapy Assistant OR Rehab Assistant, they will be responsible for providing high quality therapy management to patients within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
