University residences provide accommodation to approximately 5,500 students across the university. We are committed to providing a professional, customer focused service to a wide range of people.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, positive and reliable individual to be responsible for the effective provision of a Mailperson service on a student residences site.


Fixed term post initially until 31 July 2025, 10 hours per week, typically 11.00am – 1.00pm,
Monday - Friday.


Salary:
£12.13 per hour.


This is a campus-based role.


During arrivals / departures, conferences and other busy periods you may be required to work additional hours.

Package includes access to a range of staff discounts and training.

Job Description



MAIN DUTIES


  • To receive mail from internal and external providers, signing for parcels and/or registered mail, as applicable.
  • To sort mail in alpha or room order as applicable.
  • To distribute sorted mail/parcels into mailboxes.
  • To record all parcels and registered mail onto a mail database and email student customer to collect mail.
  • To deal with any mail for customers that are no longer in residence by using forwarding address, if available, or “return to sender”.
  • To abide by university policies on Health and Safety.
  • To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in respect of equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial and other University policies, procedures and codes as appropriate.
  • To attend and actively participate in all basic training as identified in the Training Matrix.
  • To provide a service to customers during arrivals/departures, conferences and other busy periods which may be within other residences and involve working additional hours.
  • You may be asked to perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role.

  • Experience of working unsupervised.
  • Proven ability to write notes, complete records and read information.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA


  • Experience of sorting post and parcels.
  • Ability to speak / understand Welsh or willingness to learn.
