The Trust Doctor in Neurology at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust in Canterbury will be an integral member of the junior Neurology team, providing high standards of care in line with national guidelines. Responsibilities include conducting outpatient clinics, managing ward referrals, supporting inpatients on the Neurology ward, and contributing to the elective patient pathway while adhering to RTT targets. The role demands participation in various medical meetings, teaching duties, and involvement in the Directorate Audit Programme. Candidates should have at least two years of acute medical experience and a minimum of twelve months in Neurology, with a preference for those holding full MRCP or an equivalent qualification.

The post holder will be part of the junior Neurology team, ensuring that the highest standards of care, in accordance with the National Service Framework for Neurology and relevant NICE guidance are provided for patients.
The post holder duties will be to provide outpatient clinics, undertake ward referrals at the acute sites, Support a ward referral rota trust-wide, support inpatients within the acute Neurology ward, be involved in the management of the elective patient pathway, be responsible for delivering RTT targets.
A Job Plan will be agreed with the successful applicant which will include being part of the Neurology registrar rota which provides 24/7 cover for the department. The post holder will be supervised by consultant Neurologists and will be expected to become an integral member of the Neurology team.
It is expected that the postholder will be part of the Directorates Audit Programme and be involved in the audit meetings, MDM meetings, Intervention meetings and complex patient review meetings and teaching.
It is desirable for applicants to hold full MRCP or equivalent. Applicants will also have had at least two years acute medical experience. They must have worked for at least twelve months in Neurology. A commitment to life-long training and personal development should be evidenced by the applicant.
The post will be expected to participate in teaching other doctors and medical students, nurses and other paramedical staff in the team in speciality and special interest.
Specialty Doctors are expected to participate in annual appraisal and undergo annual job plan review.
