Job Overview
An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Assistant Psychologist within the North Bristol Trust, to join a team of Clinical Health Psychologists working in the Anaesthetic, Surgical, Critical Care and Renal Directorate on a fixed term basis for 11.25 hours a week for 4.5 months.
The post holder will be embedded in the Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery service. They will however be part of a wider network of psychologists working across the Trust. This post involves working closely with members of the multidisciplinary team, including Specialist Nurses, Dietitians, Bariatric Practitioners, Consultant Endocrinologists and Surgeons. Main duties of the job
Under supervision of the Counselling/Clinical psychologists, the post holder will provide group and individual psychological support for people who are in the Weight Assessment and Management Service. They will also collate psychometric data for audit purposes and provide support with administration tasks for the Psychology Team. The post holder may support project work being undertaken by the team.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of qualified applied psychologists the post holder will: Provide psychological support to people who suffer from obesity, either in a group or individual setting. To apply a psychological understanding of obesity, eating disorders and behaviour change. To assist the formulation and delivery of care plans for each individual in the community. Coordination and co-running of therapeutic groups. To attend and contribute to multi disciplinary meetings. Handle clinical queries, to their level of competence, in the absence of their supervisor. Maintain adequate records of their involvement with the patient and will maintain the services’ clinical database, keeping records up to date at regular intervals. Undertake data collection, collation and analysis exercises for the purpose of clinical audit and research as directed by their supervisor. Carry out clinically related administrative duties, as directed by their supervisor. Work flexibly within the demands of the service but will be responsible for planning and prioritising many of their own duties.

- Undergraduate degree in Psychology, accepted by BPS
- Previous experience as an Assistant Psychologist
- Previous experience working in a Clinical Healthcare Setting
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working in Weight Management and/or Eating Disorders
- Has experience working 1:1 with patients in a healthcare setting
