The role of Consultant - Respiratory at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust involves providing a consultant-led respiratory service alongside the existing team, with responsibilities including cross-cover for leave and participation in the acute general medical on-call rota. The appointee will focus on training junior medical staff and contribute to educational initiatives at all levels while managing their workload to optimize care quality and capacity.
Additionally, the consultant will offer clinical leadership to nursing and support staff, collaborate with Trust Managers and local General Practitioners on service development, engage in multidisciplinary teamwork, and explore opportunities for service modernisation, including preventative care and community support initiatives for primary care.

Respiratory will be the primary specialty for the post holder(s). The appointee(s) will have joint responsibility, with the current members of Respiratory team, for the provision of a consultant led and delivered service. Prospective cross cover is required for leave. Participation in the acute general medical on-call rota.
To regularly devote time for the training of junior medical staff, contributing as appropriate to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education. To manage personal workload in such a way as to ensure that capacity is maximised and quality of care is optimised. Provide clinical leadership and supervision to the nursing and support staff within the team. Provision of advice to Trust Managers, local General Practitioners and other interested parties, on the provision, planning and development of medical services.
