ThirtySomethingFashion is seeking a Janitor to support the efficient operation of Aberdeen City Council's educational properties. This part-time, permanent role requires working Monday to Friday for two hours each day, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Ideal candidates should possess a basic understanding of building maintenance, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and a willingness to complete a recognized qualification for swimming pool plant operation within six months. Location: Various Locations in Aberdeen

Duration: Permanent, Part Time Monday - Friday, 2 Hours per Day (16.30 - 18.30)

Aberdeen City Council is currently in discussions with Trade Unions regarding a proposal to move from a standard 37-hour full-time working week to a standard 35-hour full-time working week.

Please note: A decision has been reached, in consultation with our Trade Unions, that all new vacancies will be advertised on a maximum of 35 hours per week, and accordingly, new appointments made on a contract of 35 hours per week.

R oles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023 , where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership . This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above . (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £ 15.97 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members , and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment.

Job Purpose/about The Role

The purpose of the role is to provide a critical support service which will enable the safe and efficient running of Aberdeen City Council's (non 3Rs) educational properties. This will require team members to work in collaboration with colleagues from within our Integrated Ch ildren's and Family Services , from the other Facilities Management services which operate in our schools and with Building Services colleagues and/or their sub - contractors to achieve the required outcomes.

The Post Holder Needs To Hold As a Minimum

No formal qualifications are required, however, a trade background and/or previous

building management experience is desirable.

Either has or is able to achieve within 6 months of commencement, completion of a

recognised qualification for the safe maintenance and operation of swimming pool plant

(e.g. STA/Train - CIMSPA)

An appropriate level of health and fitness to carry out manual frontline service delivery

tasks .

The Postholder Is Able To Demonstrate

Working both as part of a Team and having the ability to use one's own initiative.
Knowledge of general building maintenance
Security management of multiple buildings
Ability to operate access control systems, intruder /fire alarm /sprinkler systems and

CCTV systems

Competency and/or previous experience in the use of all Janitorial/Cleaning service

equipment and materials provided.

Ability to operate boiler plant to include heating, hot water and swimming pool plant
Manual handling and Working at Height processes
Appropriate level of health and fitness to carry out the tasks of the job.
