An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly Grange Ward (Formerly Churchill ward) as a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant. You will support and work as part of the wider team in the delivery of patient care, under the supervision of our registered nurses. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and use their initiative, when necessary.

You will undertake the Trust's training programme for Healthcare Assistants and will maintain an agreed level of competence. You will also be expected to work internal rotation with regard to shifts, including early and late shifts, and night shifts, as and when required.

It is expected that the post holder will be able to carry out all of the duties listed in the job description. No duties are to be undertaken by the post holder unless they have received the appropriate training or instruction.

  • To assist the registered nurse / professional in the delivery of patient care.
  • To communicate with patients, in such a way, that respects and takes into account the patient’s level of understanding.
  • To assist with the preparation and delivery of meals and beverages, assisting patients as requested.
  • To participate in the admission process of patients as directed by the registered nurse.
  • To communicate effectively with patients / carers to ensure patients are kept well informed of any changes or delays to appointments / investigations.
  • To be responsible for undertaking and recording blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, urine analysis, weight, height, reporting any abnormalities to the nurse / professional in charge.
