The "Biologics and Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist" position at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUHFT) offers a unique opportunity to join the newly established Best Value Medicines and Biologics Team within the Medicines Effectiveness Team. This role focuses on maximizing cost-saving initiatives related to biologic medicines while ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. The pharmacist will collaborate with various stakeholders, including prescribers, pharmacists, and commissioning teams, to implement strategies aimed at optimizing biologic prescribing and usage, particularly through the promotion of biosimilars.

Key responsibilities include creating a robust framework to support the implementation of new biosimilars, identifying and mobilizing cost-saving initiatives, and ensuring the cost-effective use of medicines. The pharmacist will also play a vital role in coordinating savings plans on biologic and high-cost medicines and will actively participate in relevant committee meetings to drive the Trust's Medicines Optimisation strategy. Through these efforts, the pharmacist will contribute significantly to enhancing the value and outcomes of medication use within the healthcare system while reducing costs.
