  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Phlebotomy Duties:

    • Perform venepuncture procedures to collect blood samples from patients.
    • Ensure patient comfort and safety during the blood collection process.
    • Accurately label and handle specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Healthcare Assistant Duties:

    • Assist with patient examinations and procedures under the supervision of clinical staff.
    • Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
    • Support patients with daily activities and provide compassionate care.
    • Assist in maintaining a clean and organised clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with the clinical team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of services.
  • Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Phlebotomist is preferred but not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • A caring and empathetic approach to patient care.

Widcombe Surgery, located in the beautiful city of Bath, is seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist/Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated healthcare team.

Working under the supervision of the practice nurses and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the phlebotomist will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Hours will be a total of 25-30 hours a week across 4-5 mornings.

The practice is very committed to learning and education and are happy to support career progression in line with practice priorities.
