Band 6: £42,939 to £50,697 a year per annum inclusive of HCAs  FIXED TERM 

We are looking to recruit an endoscopy senior nurse to join our dynamic and skilled team working in endoscopy. It is essential that applicants have at least two years of endoscopy experience.

We are looking for a good team player, who has a willingness to learn and develop new skills.

Our endoscopy unit consists of 4 rooms . The procedures carried out are varied and include Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, PEG insertion, Endoscopic stenting and Bronchoscopy for outpatients and inpatients (when required). The unit also provides recovery facilities.

The successful candidate will be required to work 4 to 5 days a week which could include evenings and weekends.

Informal visits are welcomed.

  • Act as a role model, demonstrating high levels of clinical expertise, leading, managing and delivering individual patient care.
  • The post holder will be expected to take charge of a designated area within the Endoscopy Unit on a regular basis and in the absence of the team leader.
  • The post holder will be a qualified nurse and registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council with an up-to-date PIN number, with at least 2 years' experience in endoscopy.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care and their implementation and evaluation.
  • The post holder is also expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision, following appropriate training and will be required to demonstrate procedures to qualified and unqualified staff, and supervise the members of the team.
  • The post holder will contribute to the overall good of the organization by being a positive role model and to treat all staff, patients and visitors and service users with courtesy.

Be part of the coordinator role when allocated, coordinating the unit across endoscopy rooms and recovery, maintaining a smooth and safe daily activity.

Undertake risk assessments for the patients that are going to have endoscopic procedures.

Undertake nursing assessments, obtaining a detailed past medical history and ordering appropriate clinical investigations.

Assess patients through the phone, identify the ones at risk and invite them for a face to face assessment. Then perform investigations and refer them when necessary.

Implement intervention based on the results of the assessment and investigations.

Identify cultural requirements, communication, and other special needs.
