The role of Consultant Psychiatrist at North Manchester's Mulberry Ward with Greater Manchester Mental Health NHSFT offers an opportunity to be part of a modernising mental health service focused on inpatient and community care. The new consultant will work primarily at North View, North Manchester General Hospital, and will have joint responsibilities for the Forest Ward, which will replace Mulberry Ward and will feature a reduced capacity of 17 beds. The position is full-time and involves providing clinical leadership, conducting daily ward rounds, supporting the multidisciplinary team in patient assessments, and managing complex mental health presentations, particularly focusing on psychosis.

In addition to clinical duties, the consultant will train junior doctors, participate in clinical governance, and lead service development guided by national standards. They will also be responsible for risk assessments, coordinating care with pharmacists, preparing reports for mental health tribunals, and fostering collaborative relationships with external mental health partners. The role emphasises high-quality patient care and engagement in ongoing service transformation efforts.
