The Devon Partnership NHS Trust is seeking an Inpatient Specialty Doctor Psychiatrist with a focus on Intellectual Disabilities in Exeter. The role involves providing clinical support for a new 10-bed regional inpatient unit that will cater to individuals with learning disabilities and autism who have treatable mental health needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for direct clinical care, including ward rounds and mental state examinations, and will collaborate with the senior leadership team to implement and evaluate the service.

Key objectives include improving care pathways, enhancing physical infrastructure for better outcomes, shortening patient lengths of stay, and minimizing out-of-area admissions. The new unit, opening in June 2025, will feature a state-of-the-art design created with input from clinicians and individuals with lived experience. The doctor will work within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high-quality care and aid in the transition to the new service.
