Band 4: £26,530 to £29,114 a year per annum  PERMANENT 
To work as part of the Intensive Care Rehab MDT (predominantly Allied Health Professionals, Rehab Consultants, Critical Care Outreach and Nursing teams), Providing a high quality and comprehensive therapy service to patients.

  1. Attend Handover & MDT meetings to represent current Therapy/Rehab management with regards to patient progress and potential and be able to make to decisions within agreed parameters
  2. To liaise regularly with the Therapist and MDT to discuss patient progress, particularly any variation in the treatment delivered or deviation from the expected outcome of the treatment plan.
  3. To recognise improvements and deterioration in patients condition and act appropriately by informing relevant team members and supervising Therapists/MDT.
  4. To be able to read and interpret monitored information to ensure patient and therapist safety during therapy session e.g. BP, HR, Temperature, SpO2 etc.
  5. Read, monitor and safely disconnect/reconnect equipment knowing when it is acceptable to do so to enable therapeutic treatment to take place in an appropriate setting.
  6. To take responsibility for ongoing assessment, treatment and evaluation of referred patients.
  7. To anticipate and plan/facilitate discharge of delegated patient caseload e.g. issuing equipment, discussing with inpatient team and make ongoing referrals as appropriate.
  8. Is aware of own scope of practice and seeks advice when situations move outside of the scope.
  9. To work alongside Therapists/MDT identifying inefficiencies in service provision, gathering data/audit and implementing service development projects.
  10. Aware of relevant guidelines, policies and professional groups e.g. ICS, NICE, GPICs and internal Trust polocies

This is an exciting opportunity to join critical care as a band 4 rehabilitation technician. You will be based in the intensive care and support the patients with their rehabilitation from critical illness.

You will be working collaboratively with relevant Team Professionals (e.g. Health Care Assistants, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Nursing staff, physiotherapists and doctors) to assist achievement of patient centred goals and maximising the patient's potential.

  • To work as part of the Intensive Care Rehab MDT (predominantly Allied Health Professionals, Rehab Consultants, Critical Care Outreach and Nursing teams), Providing a high quality and comprehensive therapy service to patients
  • To work with adults with varied conditions, may include orthopaedic, medical, elderly rehabilitation, amputees, neurological, surgical, spinal etc.
  • To work alongside the MDT and be confident with assessing and issuing basic Therapy equipment as service needs require (to include OT, physio, SALT)
  • To work unsupervised as well as alongside the qualified AHPs and nurses.
  • To provide information and advice to patients, carers and other health and social care professions on areas within the grades scope of practice, e.g. advise patients on exercise treatment programmes based on procedures and set protocols.
  • Take on routine procedural based assessments and implement own treatment programme, through exercises and mobility rehabilitation individually or in groups
  • To regularly evaluate and analyse treatment programmes and modifies them without prior consultation with relevant AHPs, but escalating when appropriate.
  • To regularly feedback to AHPs regarding patients' progress and to feedback regarding how delivery of service and policies impact on patients and the service as a whole, to ensure maintenance and improvement to quality at all times.
