Candidates must possess a solid understanding of electrical building services and hold a qualification such as NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, alongside at least three years of relevant experience. The role demands expertise in various complex systems including power, lighting, fire alarms, and ventilation, with additional qualifications in specific areas like Water, Ventilation, or Medical Gases being advantageous. The Electrician will work collaboratively within a team to ensure high-quality maintenance services, contributing to the overall mission of safeguarding patient care while managing the Trust's estate assets efficiently. Shift work covering a week-long schedule is also required.
We are seeking an experienced person to join our on-site engineering team as an Electrician, reporting to the Electrical Estates Officer, who will be an active member of the Estates team responsible for carrying out and supervising the safe installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Trust's plant, equipment and buildings.
The post holder will be required to work under pressure in emergency situations where the failure to act promptly or safely may result in serious injury, damage or loss of life. Previous NHS experience is not essential although would be useful, and full supplementary training will be provided.
Please note: This role includes the responsibility of being a member of the on-call team supporting the Trust out of hours.
Knowledge, Training & Experience - The post holder will be responsible for carrying out the safe installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Trust's plant, equipment and buildings and this role will require training and experience in commercial electrical building services supporting large, complex systems such as power and lighting, fire alarms, nurse call, ventilation and air conditioning, passenger lifts, generators, etc. and ideally you will have an understanding and experience of HV equipment and switchgear.
You will require a well-developed understanding of a range of work procedures and practices, the majority of which are non-routine, and which require intermediate level theoretical knowledge acquired through formal training to NVQ 3, or equivalent, with at least 3 years of relevant working experience.
As well as the full range of duties associated with the post holder's core skills, i.e., installation, reactive and preventative maintenance, diagnose faults, carry out repairs, modifications, calibration, etc., the role often requires specialisation and a multi skilled approach with team members having responsibilities in nominated specialist Estates roles, such as Competent Person for Water, Ventilation, Work At Height, Confined Space, Pressure Systems, or Medical Gases.

To act as part of a team of craftsmen. The post holder will understand the CAFM system (Planet) and ensure that all the estate assets are managed and maintained to the relevant and necessary standards.
The post holder will be required to participate in an on-call rota and be prepared to cover sickness, leave or other absence.
The post holder will also be required to work shift patterns Monday Sunday.
