The Jessie May Children's Nurse will work as part of a small care team within the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) to provide community-based palliative nursing care for children and young people with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses. Key responsibilities include delivering holistic nursing care in family homes or hospital settings, offering emotional support to children, young people, and their families, and managing individualised care plans during respite visits. The role also includes collaboration with the end-of-life team to provide specialized care, supervision of students, and adherence to UHBW policies and guidelines.

In addition, the post holder is expected to maintain effective communication within the Jessie May Care Team and with external agencies, ensure health and safety compliance, and document all care provided. The nurse will also play a crucial role in recognizing the need for additional emotional support for families, assisting with medication administration, and promoting the independence of children in their care. The position requires flexibility, including on-call availability, and the candidate should remain mobile across the Jessie May geographical area. Previous applicants within the last six months should not apply.
