1. Facilitate the work programme for governance, providing practical support to staff in order to improve patient care and patient safety, developing timely and measurable action plans to meet the required standards.
2. As an integral part of the Emergency department team, advise on local and national policies, which influence or may impact on services, contributing to the delivery of local and national policy initiatives and contributing to key performance outcomes.
3. To work with staff within all areas of the department, to ensure they have governance arrangements in place that are fit for purpose and reflect the Trusts objectives and priorities
4. To act as a contact point for Emergency Department governance matters and to provide advice and direction to all staff demonstrating a constant awareness of departmental issues, dealing with complex, sensitive and contentious matters.
5. To take a leading role in the implementation of the Emergency Department Risk Management arrangements ensuring that incidents reported are analysed for trends, issues identified and where appropriate, are populated onto the Divisional/Trust Risk Registers
