We are seeking an enthusiastic and pro-active nurse or midwife to set up and run a vaccination service for antenatal patients registered with CDDFT. This will include practicing in line with public health improvement objectives and you will have a lead role in supporting the increase in the number of pregnant people who receive pregnancy recommended vaccinations during the winter season.
The role will provide the women and birthing people who access our maternity service a robust approach to the immunisation programme for seasonal Flu, pertussis and COVID vaccinations, in addition to delivering education and obtaining informed consent around vaccinations in pregnancy.
The post holder will ensure that appropriate vaccinations are offered to all pregnant people and that they are actively encouraged to uptake. You will then plan and administer the vaccine within a clinical outpatient environment within our hospital Antenatal Clinic sites. As part of this service you will ensure families are given up to date personalised choice regarding immunisations for themselves and their babies. The post holder will be required to maintain up to date digital immunisation records as required.
As a band 5 Registered Nurse or Midwife Vaccination practitioner you will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the safe delivery of maternity vaccines within the Antenatal Clinic. The post holder will be responsible for administering vaccines to clients within a team of staff working in a clinical team within antenatal services as part of the vaccination delivery model. As a registered practitioner in nursing or midwifery, the post holder will be responsible for the configuration of their vaccination station, administration of the vaccines and disposal of clinical waste as per trust guidelines including adherence to infection control practices between individuals.
