The Practice Nurse at Haughton Thornley Medical Centres in Hyde will be responsible for delivering a range of nursing services as part of a multidisciplinary team, focusing on key areas such as infection control, chronic disease management, health promotion, and well-person clinics. The nurse will perform routine clinical tasks under the guidance of senior staff and GPs, including cytology, patient assessments, immunisations, and assisting with minor surgeries, while ensuring adherence to established clinical protocols.
Additionally, the Practice Nurse will contribute to the maintenance of clinical environments, manage medical supplies, and support health initiatives for both individual patients and the broader practice community. To be responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The practice nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as infection prevention and control, health promotion, chronic disease management, health prevention, well women and well man clinics, as well as supporting the management team in the reviewing of clinical policy and procedure.
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs
- Cytology
- New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
- Venepuncture
- Hypertension Management
- Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception.
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
- Other tasks will include
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
- Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager
