The East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant Histopathologist specializing in Gynaecological Histology to join their Cellular Pathology Department in Hastings. The successful candidate will participate in the department's diverse workload, which includes histopathology, cytopathology, and immunohistochemistry, while focusing on gynaecological pathology, which is currently outsourced. The role offers opportunities for both newly appointed and experienced consultants, including involvement in a cutting-edge digital pathology initiative.

As part of a collaborative Sussex Pathology Network, the consultant is expected to provide high-quality patient care, lead and support clinical staff, contribute to teaching initiatives, and participate in cancer multidisciplinary teams. The department handles over 30,000 surgical and 2,000 non-gynaecological cytology cases annually and provides a supportive working environment with a strong emphasis on professional development. Candidates must be registered medical practitioners with appropriate qualifications (MRCPath/FRCPath), and the position allows for a desirable work-life balance in a region that offers both urban and rural living options.
