Issues with alcohol and other substances often develop in response to past and present adversity, which can impact mental health including experiencing depression and anxiety and other mental health issues.

However, people with substance misuse issues often experience difficulties in accessing mental health support, with a perspective that the person must cease substance use prior to accessing therapeutic interventions.

Horizon, uses a Trauma Informed approach, in supporting those who use our services, including service users and staff. The Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, will play an active role in utilising the Trauma Informed principles to enhance recovery and provide a psychologically informed environment.

The Cognitive Behavioural Therapist role is a critical support to the delivery of evidence- based treatment for clients with alcohol issues and to support recovery.

-Manage a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist caseload.

-Provide consultation to, and communicate as appropriate, with colleagues.

-Provide consultation to, and communicate as appropriate, with colleagues.

-Carry out specialised comprehensive assessments, collecting, interpreting and integrating clinical data from a range of sources, including direct observation, interviews with patients, carers and other professionals involved with the patients care.

-Contribute to risk assessments and management plans as part of the multidisciplinary team, and indicating appropriate action where indicated (including requests for Mental Health assessments)

-Plan, implement and evaluate CBT treatment in conjunction with the appropriate teams.

-To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions based upon CBT approaches to aspects of risk assessment and risk management.

-Provide peer-support to staff, volunteers and / or students as appropriate.

-Evaluate treatment outcomes with clients, selecting appropriately validated psychometric measures and/or other assessment technique, such as GAD7, PCL5, PHQ9.

-Maintain all relevant documentation in line with organisational and CQC requirements, contributing to organisational governance systems and processes.

-Development of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy within the Horizon service.

About us

-Youll work with adults within our Lighthouse alcohol service. Usually, you will deliver CBT one to one, but it can also be used in a group setting. -Youll work alongside other clinicians, such as wellbeing practitioners, clinical psychologists, mental health nurses. Your work may involve managing referrals and signposting people to other agencies, which will require you to work closely with other healthcare professionals, employment, and education advisers (IPS) and support staff. -You could work in a variety of Multi agency settings, and various partners across the Blackpool landscape. -Services can be based in GP practices, healthcare centres or other community venues. -You will be provided with ongoing supervision to help you engage in self-reflection, seek, and respond to feedback, and develop your professional knowledge and skills. -You will be based in Blackpool and may involve travel to a range of setting across the wider service areas, Blackpool, Lancaster, Burnley however your primary base will be Horizon Blackpool. -This role is a 37.5 hour per week position operating Mon-Fri. We are happy to discuss flexibility with shift patterns.
