The role of Consultant in Intensive Care +/- Dual Specialty at Cwmbran's Grange University Hospital involves a split position in Critical Care and Anaesthesia with a 10 session contract, including participation in the ICU on-call rota (currently 1:16). The candidate may have the opportunity to adjust their commitment to a maximum of 12 sessions with flexibility in job planning. The Anaesthetic Directorate offers comprehensive services for elective surgery (excluding certain specialties), critical care, emergency surgery, and obstetric anaesthesia, with the position requiring involvement in both direct clinical care (DCCs) and supporting professional activities (SPAs).

Successful applicants will work collaboratively with other sites within the health board and are expected to engage in the anaesthetics on-call rota, which currently operates at a frequency of 2 in 32. Candidates must possess full GMC registration and appropriate qualifications, including being on the GMC Specialist Register or close to obtaining their CCT. The role is integral to the future healthcare models within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and requires candidates to participate in ongoing professional development activities provided by the health system.
