Practice Nurse required for Overton Park Surgery, experience preferred.
Hours are as follows:
Mondays 14:00 - 18:00 (4 hours)
Tuesdays 13:00 - 18:00 (5 hours)
Wednesdays 13:00 - 18:00 (5 hours)
Fridays 13:00 - 18:00 (5 hours)
19 hours in total.
We are a forward-thinking GP Practice in the centre of Cheltenham. We have a dynamic team of doctors, nurses, ARRS staff and administrators.
The successful candidate should be able to undertake a range of core clinical competencies as identified in the job description.
We are looking for a part-time qualified Practice Nurse with experience in chronic disease management, immunisations; childhood vaccinations and immunisations; travel advice per national recommendations, and other Practice Nurse duties.
The post holder will provide care for the presenting patient.
They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of the patients, ensuring that practice policies and procedures are followed and ensuring compliance with CQC Essential Standards of Care.
To work flexibly within the nursing team to ensure the practice can accommodate the health care needs of patients at all times. This will include the need to work additional hours or change hours of work on occasion.

Key responsibilities
Providing care, treatment and support that meets patients' needs
Assess, plan, provide and implement and evaluate nursing care to meet the care needs of individuals in the practice population.
Manage patients with long term conditions, in line with practice protocols and agreed best practice adopted by Overton Park Surgery.
Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage patients to live healthily, and apply principles of self-care e.g. diet, exercise, alcohol, smoking cessation.
Undertake health screening, surveillance, new-patient screens and immunisations.
Assess and care for patients presenting with wounds including removal of sutures and clips and leg ulcer management.
Vaccination and immunisations, administering injections, ensuring safe vaccine storage, implementing cold chain policy.
Undertake cervical cytology screening on those who are eligible in line with national Guidelines.
To perform ear-irrigation, urinalysis, ECGs, peak flow readings, blood pressure measurements and venepuncture as required (note the practice has both phlebotomist and HCA support).
Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
To obtain and act on patient feedback on an individual basis and as part of the wider practice team.
