The South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Practitioner Pharmacist for their Emergency Department, which has been an established role since 2013. The successful candidate will lead pharmaceutical services across two Type 1 Emergency Departments and two Urgent Care Centres, handling over 650 non-elective patients daily. This role requires a pharmacist who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment, demonstrating strong initiative, communication skills, and clinical expertise. The position offers extensive supervision and support from experienced professionals and aims to develop, manage, and evaluate pharmacy services for both Adult and Paediatric emergencies while collaborating with the wider healthcare team.

Candidates must have significant hospital clinical pharmacist experience, including evidence of service delivery at a specialist level, advanced clinical skills, and an independent prescribing qualification. Experience in emergency or acute medicine, along with a background in clinical service development, is advantageous. The role emphasises the safe and effective management of medication, focusing on improving patient care through optimized medication use and the integration of modern pharmaceutical practices, such as electronic prescribing and an expanded Integrated Medicines Management Scheme.
