The above is an example job plan. Following discussion, this will be adjusted to successful candidate's specialist interests and flexible working requests as well as the service they choose to work in.
Specialist interest areas may include Bone health, Frailty, Parkinson's, Community Geriatrics (including Hospital @ Home services), Continence, Falls (including tilt table testing), Surgical in-reach, Oncogeriatrics, Education. All these areas, even though well established, have further scope for expansion. We are also more than happy to consider other areas of interest for development at WTWA, following discussion with individual candidates, such as cardio-geriatrics[SB2].
The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the general medical consultant on call rota. As a specialist, this will be as a second on call medical consultant/specialist and will involve a combination of evening, overnight and weekend cover. At the time of the advert, the frequency of the on call medical rota is 1 in 24 weekdays and 1 in 8 weekends with one bank holiday per calendar year.
