The Prison Services Dispensary Technician (ACT) role at HMP Rochester with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust involves providing a comprehensive medicines management service within the prison system. The position requires an accredited checking technician to perform final accuracy checks on dispensed medications, oversee the supply of repeat prescriptions, and supervise dispensary assistants. This part-time role (30 hours per week) is maternity cover for 12 months and demands adherence to high standards of practice, alongside the collaboration with pharmacy staff, prison personnel, and external healthcare providers.

Key responsibilities include conducting weekly clinical visits to assess medication storage, provide advice on medication use, and manage the documentation of controlled substances. The technician will also play a role in promoting healthy lifestyles among offenders and will be expected to uphold custodial responsibilities, including security compliance. Candidates must pass National Security Vetting as part of the hiring process and provide various forms of identification and address history documentation.
