We are excited to offer a a Band 4 Occupational Therapy technician post within our Stroke Pathway based at University Hospital Llandough (UHL). This position will work with the Occupational Therapy teams across the Stroke Pathway but specifically focus within the Stroke Rehabilitation Centre based at UHL working with patients following stroke from Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan.
In addition to the clinical role, you will work closely with the Occupational Therapy stroke team and provide essential administrative support including stock/equipment management including wheelchair management and activity data.

As a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Technician, you will provide person centred goal focused rehabilitation for service users with a range of complex/highly complex needs following stroke.
Working together with service users to understand "what matters," you will support engagement in meaningful occupation, promote independence and support opportunities for recovery. Strategies to support reduced cognition and communication may be required and you will develop skills and knowledge to use these with individuals, supporting engagement in occupation. Rehabilitation includes upper limb interventions and you will develop knowledge and skills in techniques to support upper limb rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation will be delivered within a group or individually. You will plan and organise groups, having the opportunity to develop group skills and delivering these with colleagues and the wider multi professional team.
We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and confident person with excellent communication skills and a passion for working with people. Previous experience in a therapy support worker role / rehabilitation/ experience of groupwork will support this role.
Training and development opportunities include in service training plus shadowing and supervision and support in this role. A positive attitude to self directed learning will be valued.
