The Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes to join their progressive team, which is one of the largest paediatric endocrine departments in the UK. The position involves delivering specialized Rare Diabetes services, alongside general endocrinology and diabetes clinics, requiring collaboration with adult endocrine and diabetes services. The role, which is a 10 PA post with a 1 in 5.5 on-call commitment, focuses on providing comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care, including intensified diabetes management and education programs. Applicants must have eligibility for full GMC registration and be nearing completion of their CCST or equivalent in paediatric endocrinology, with preference given to those with training and interest in managing rare diabetes forms.

The successful candidate will support existing sub-specialty services and contribute to the National Rare Diabetes service at Birmingham Children's Hospital, utilizing a combination of virtual and face-to-face clinics. The department encourages innovation to maintain high standards in diabetes and endocrine care. Candidates should possess practical knowledge in paediatric diabetes management and advanced glucose monitoring technologies, with experience in rare diabetes care being advantageous. The role is a substantive replacement position aimed at enhancing the team’s capacity to deliver high-quality care across Birmingham and the West Midlands.
