To take into account queer and trans affirmative models of therapy and consider the impact of wider systems on that persons experience of sexual problems and gender dysphoria.
To provide psychosexual therapy to TransPlus clients around issues of sexual wellbeing connected to their diagnosis of gender dysphoria. Offering advice and consultation on clients' psychosexual concerns to colleagues. Working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures.
The post holder will work with clients of the TransPlus service, who may have had sexual difficulties identified as part of their assessment in the service. The post holder would be expected to provide short- to medium term evidence based psychosexual therapy to clients and their partners for a range of difficulties related to living with gender dysphoria. We also anticipate that the post holder may contribute to the design and running of group psychoeducation interventions on sexual problems related to gender dysphoria under the supervision of the senior psychologist in the service.
The post holder will be based within 56 Dean Street sexual health service and will form good relationships with Trans and gender diverse clients seen within the service.
The post holder will have key working relationships with the rest of the MDT and will attend weekly MDT meetings at both locations.
The post holder will work autonomously within professional practice guidelines and Trust guidelines.

- To formulate effective psychosexual interventions for clients of the Transplus service, based on the latest evidence.
- To effectively identify other wider mental health needs arising during the course of therapy and support clients to access this through other therapists in the team.
- To take into account queer and trans affirmative models of therapy and consider the impact of wider systems on that persons experience of sexual problems and gender dysphoria
- To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the timely and effective assessment, treatment and discharge of clients
- To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies serving the client group.
- To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients where necessary and escalate these concerns to senior members of the therapy team where appropriate.
- To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress during the course of both uni- and multi-disciplinary care
Teaching, training, and supervision
- To receive regular clinical professional supervision from a senior clinical psychologist and, where appropriate, other senior professional colleagues.
- To contribute to any research or audit happening in the service to evaluate the project.
- To contribute to any teaching, training or development of service materials to support other professionals in understanding the key issues with this client group.
- To familiarise themselves with, and to comply with, the Trust's requirements on research governance.
Information Technology responsibilities
- To maintain personal records including clinical observations, test and research results and work records in computerised and manual forms.
- To enter data into spread sheets including statistical programmes and to carry out high level statistical processing of data.
- To develop, prepare and maintain appropriate research databases under supervision.
General
- To contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the post holder's professional and service manager.
- To stay aware of current developments in the field of psychosexual therapy and gender, sexuality and relationship diversity healthcare.
- To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping, including electronic data entry and recording, report writing, and the responsible exercise of professional self-governance in accordance with professional codes of practice of the post holder's professional body, as well as Trust policies and procedures.
- To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies, and issues in relation to the client group.
