The Security Officer role at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust in Worthing involves supporting the Security Manager to ensure a cost-effective and robust security service across all Trust sites. The officer will focus on protecting staff, patients, and visitors from violence and abuse, engaging directly with individuals displaying challenging behavior when necessary. Responsibilities include conducting high-visibility patrols to deter crime, investigating security incidents, and providing crime prevention advice. Building positive relationships with law enforcement and adhering to Trust policies are essential components of the role.

The Security Officer must maintain accurate records, respond promptly to security incidents, and preserve evidence, as well as participate in training for physical intervention when needed. The role requires regular communication with colleagues, attention to confidentiality, and ensuring all equipment is well-maintained. Officers will also assist with administrative tasks, such as issuing ID badges and handling keys, while maintaining a professional presence and supporting the overall security strategy of the Trust.
