Applications are invited for the post of Consultant Chemical Pathologist at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust - Wexham Park Site. This post is a full time post.
The successful candidate will be based primarily at the Wexham Park Site and will join the current Clinical scientists in offering support to the general biochemistry services. In addition the successful candidate will be expected to provide a lipidology clinical service to the Trust.
The consultants in Medical Biochemistry will be employed by Frimley Health NHS trust and based at the Blood Sciences Hub laboratory at Wexham Park Hospital. They will be clinically responsible to the Clinical Director of Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS). They will work collaboratively with the Consultant in Medical Biochemistry based at Frimley Park hospital. He/She will have the use of a dedicated office, equipped with the usual furniture and a P.C. with word processing and spreadsheet facilities, and full access to the laboratory IT systems. There is a shared part-time departmental secretary.
The consultants in Medical Biochemistry are expected to provide a comprehensive clinical biochemistry service for all users of the laboratory. The consultants will provide expert support for the diagnosis and management of biochemical clinical problems; advice on appropriate investigations on an individual patient basis; and determine the repertoire provided by the clinical biochemistry department within the resources that are available.
The consultants will take a lead role in clinical liaison and clinical audit.
The Clinical Biochemists will normally provide cover for the laboratory services during the Consultant's absence or leave.
There is also an on-call commitment to provide continuous Consultant cover for the Biochemistry service across Berkshire, shared with 3 other consultants.
