The North Bristol NHS Trust is seeking a Deputy Director of Pharmacy (Band 8D) to join their team in Bristol, following a restructure of the senior leadership within the pharmacy department. This role is pivotal for anyone aspiring to be a Chief Pharmacist, as it involves managing a portfolio of responsibilities and deputizing for the Director of Pharmacy in their absence. The Deputy Director will focus on developing and implementing the pharmacy’s people and financial plans, leading the Learning and Development team, and overseeing the Pharmacy's Pharmacoeconomics team to ensure effective management and strategic development of pharmacy services.

Key qualifications for the role include excellent communication and negotiation skills, as the post holder will need to engage with both clinical and non-clinical colleagues across various levels of the NHS. The Deputy Director will also have managerial accountability for approximately 20 staff members and oversee budget management relating to staff and pharmaceutical products, aiming to ensure financial balance and the cost-effective use of medicines. The role involves strategizing for future workforce needs, participating in business planning, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while actively supporting quality management systems in clinical governance.
