South Tyneside and Sunderland Podiatry Service provides patient centred care through providing integrated, seamless care delivery across both acute and primary care settings. The service offer to our patients is provided through our Acute and Community teams offering inpatient, outpatients, community clinics including biomechanics, nail surgery, domiciliary care and annual foot screening for the diabetic patient.
The nail surgery lead will be responsible for standardising clinical practise, processes for all aspects of nail surgery and in developing a nail surgery competency programme for new and existing staff. Candidates must have experience and a passion in this area of expertise.
The post provides excellent leadership qualities, supporting new, existing staff and students.
We need candidates to demonstrate excellent communication ,organisational and leadership skills and can operate effectively on their own and within a team.
The Trust has an onsite gym and has a Training and Education Centre.

The sustainability of a future nail surgery model is a key objective for the service. Providing standardised high-quality care for both South Tyneside and Sunderland patients
Experience in delivering nail surgery assessment and treatment is an essential requirement of the post. Being able to demonstrate leadership skills that will ensure practise is evidence based and standardise.
The job operates between 8.30am 4.30pm. However, we will consider flexible working arrangements, including part time, evening and weekend working.

To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience and to support other practitioners on complex cases.
Developing a robust competency-based training programme to underpin the training of podiatrists and podiatry assistants in nail surgery. Working closely with the Podiatry Clinical Educator Lead in the implementation of this training programme
Standardising nail surgery processes and procedures across the service which is evidence based including implementing a clinical audit plan for nail surgery.
