As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of sports sessions and allotment sessions, adapting seasonally. You will assist Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual care plans, and support service users to achieve their goals. You will maintain accurate records and healthcare documentation.

Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, you will support the service in delivering structured activities and assisting in the planning for individual and group therapeutic interventions. You will build one-to-one rapports with service users to encourage participation in activities and empower recovery. 

This role is specifically focused on the planning, delivery and evaluation of sports sessions and allotment sessions. This role will adapt seasonally. Within Winter months, the role will predominately be sports sessions; however over Spring, Summer and Autumn the majority of sessions will be held on the allotment.

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will contribute to the assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of structured activities in order to measure progression and ensure effectiveness. 

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be supported regionally and will have access to a variety of training and online courses to support your career development and growth. 

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant you will be:

• Assisting Occupational Therapists, Nurses and other MDT staff in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.
• Supporting service users to achieve their goals and access appropriate services.
• Maintaining adequate records, entering details in the service user healthcare records.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• GCSE/O-Levels (A-C) or a relevant NVQ2. 
• Experience in a similar environment & Mental Health
• Personal training qualification
• Verbal and written communication skills

Where you will be working:

Location: Everest Road, Atherton, Manchester, M46 9NT 

You will be working at The Spinney, a service which offer a range of care settings for male patients with personality disorder and/or mental illness. The purpose-built medium, low secure and rehabilitation wards, as well as a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) are all set within an 11 acre site with extensive woodland and landscaped areas. 

You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team at The Spinney who have previously been recognised by the Association of Psychological Therapies (APT) for their ability to reinforce positive behaviour, prevention of challenging behaviour and successful interventions in a secure care setting.
