We are looking for a Nurse for Children and Young People who is passionate about improving the health wellbeing of Children and young People in Care.

The Nurse role will include:

You will have experience of working with vulnerable children, their Carers and the multiagency partners who strive to ensure the best outcomes for these children.

The position is based at Erlegh House, University of Reading and is a 22.5 hours a week post.

  • To undertake health assessments for children and young people in care aged 0 -17 years living within Berkshire and/or within the 20-mile radius of Berkshire.

  • To assess and provide recommendations on plans of care for children and young people in care.

  • To provide health promotion advice to children and young people in care and their carers on issues such as sexual health, contraception, smoking, diet, exercise and other relevant issues.

  • To be responsible for a caseload as delegated by the Specialist Nurse for children and young people in care.

  • To participate in the wider children and young people in care team training function regarding the health needs of children and young people in care in conjunction with the lead specialist nurse.

  • In conjunction with the wider children and young people in care team, undertake audit, interpret data and use findings to enhance clinical practice.

  • Contribute to Inter agency assessments and where appropriate, analysis of risk.

  • When required, attend relevant meetings e.g. statutory review, professionals' meetings.

  • Engage children on young people in care in feedback and engagement activities to inform service development.

  • In conjunction with social care ensure that health recommendations following assessments are implemented.

  • To contribute to and promote the achievement of key performance indicators.
