This is an exciting opportunity to join South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust as an Apprentice within Pharmacy. Successful applicants will undertake a formal apprenticeship training programme, to gain the knowledge, skills and competence to work as a Pharmacy Dispenser. You must be highly organised and motivated, possess good communication skills and capable of meeting multiple deadlines.
Throughout the apprenticeship you will become confident to provide an efficient supplies system of drugs and associated products to all wards, departments, units, outreach hospitals and customers in the district and surrounding areas, which includes storing and distributing medicines. The successful candidate(s) will rotate through each area of pharmacy, including in-patient services, and stores and distribution, supporting with the dispensing, monitoring distribution and ordering of pharmacy supplies to support our patients and staff. You will be supported with full training in each rotational area.
The apprenticeship programme is fixed term for 18 months. Maths and English GCSE minimum Grade C/4 or L2 equivalent in the same subjects are essential. Subject to the successful completion of the full apprenticeship programme the successful apprentices will be made permanent in the role of Pharmacy Dispenser at the end of their apprenticeship
This post is rotational including South Tyneside and Sunderland Outpatient pharmacies.
You would be expected to be part of a late night, weekend and bank holiday rotas.
You should be adaptable, methodical and have excellent communication skills. You must be able to work well within the team and also have the ability to work on your own initiative to deliver excellent patient care.
We work in conjunction with the pharmacy education team and we assist with training of new staff which you would be expected to undertake.
