Opportunity to work as part of a consultant-led team, enhancing professional collaboration and learning.
Exposure to a diverse range of patients, including those with disabilities, medical and mental health problems, and dental phobias.
Possibility to develop clinical competencies in Special Care Dentistry, including sedation techniques and Extended Skills status.
Permanent part-time position (0.4 WTE), providing a good work-life balance with only 2 days per week required.
Involvement in domiciliary care, allowing for community engagement and outreach, extending dental care to those who may not access traditional services.
Supervisory responsibilities for dental students, which includes additional allowances and fosters the development of future dental professionals.
Flexibility to work across different sites in Birmingham and the Black Country, offering variety in work environments and experiences.
Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FT is seeking a Band A Dental Officer for its Special Care Dentistry (SCD) team, based in the Birmingham and Black Country area. This permanent part-time position (0.4 WTE, 2 days per week) involves providing dental care to adults with disabilities, medical and mental health issues, as well as those with severe dental phobia. The role encompasses domiciliary care and involves supervising dental students, offering opportunities for professional development in SCD competencies, including basic level IV sedation.

Candidates should possess a strong understanding of SCD and some experience working with the relevant patient demographics, alongside a minimum of six months' experience in hospital-based oral surgery. Full GDC registration and eligibility for the NHS performers list are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a consultant-led team.
