UHCW have an exciting opportunity for a specialist dietitian, ideally with experience in HPB Oncology to help establish a new service within the Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Dietitian to join an enthusiastic and experienced team of Oncology Specialist Dietitians to work within an established dietetic service.Who are we? We are a Dietetic Department at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire based just under 10 minutes from the M69/M6 interchange. We are diverse in both skill and experience but also in personnel. We are a department of nearly seventy Dietitians (across Coventry and Rugby Hospitals) whose specialities include gastroenterology, critical care, surgery, stroke, major trauma, oncology, renal, diabetes, specialist weight management, paediatrics and community nutrition support. We also provide student placements to neighbouring universities in Coventry and Birmingham. As a department we are actively involved in both research and audit and actively encourage staff to identify and attend courses relevant to their role and future development.This role will sit within the Oncology team with close links to the wider MDT.

The ideal candidate will be an expert senior specialist dietitian/extended scope practitioner within HPB. They will be a competent practitioner in adult gastro surgical nutrition, nutrition support and enteral feeding. They will inform dietitians and other healthcare professionals of best practice and developments in these fields. The post holder will be responsible for the provision of a specialist, high quality, effective nutrition and dietetic service, for Hepatobilary (HPB) in and outpatients.

This is a full-time role, initially for 12 months. It is a new initiative to improve care for HPB patients in line with the Pancreatic Cancer Optimal Care Pathway. You will be a core and valued member of the adult HPB Multi-Disciplinary Team. The role will involve providing targeted, expert and evidence-based nutritional advice for these patients to minimise loss of nutritional and performance status and maximise benefits of treatment. Education around Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy (PERT) will be central to this. It is an expectation of the role that there would also be an element of data collection and audit work to ensure the sustainability of the post.

We are looking for a motivated, active team player, with excellent communication skills. You will have a great opportunity to develop clinical leadership skills and gain further experience in all aspects of surgical dietetic care and complex nutritional support. You will be supported by our Speciality Lead Dietitian and wider surgical & cancer team. You will be expected to play a key role in the development of newly extended services for this patient group.
