The Lead User Researcher at the Health Research Authority (HRA) in Newcastle upon Tyne will spearhead the user research community as the organisation modernizes its digital services, ensuring a user-centric approach within an agile, continuous delivery framework. This role encompasses significant leadership responsibilities, including developing and assuring effective user research practices, guiding teams on methodologies aligned with government standards, and facilitating stakeholder engagement to prioritize user needs. The successful candidate will manage user data securely, oversee user research ethics, and combine research with analytics to enhance user experience while coaching and mentoring UCD professionals.

This position is critical within the HRA Digital directorate, which is tasked with creating and supporting complex health and care research information systems throughout the UK. The Lead User Researcher will interpret organisational strategies, assess research proposals, and translate complex data into actionable insights, aiming to improve service design and deliver optimal outcomes that align with both user needs and organisational objectives. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to influence various stakeholders while fostering professional development within the user research team.
